Surfing
Want to surf in Montanita?
Where do we start? Wake up, grab a cup of coffee, and head to La Punta to check out the waves. What kind of surf does Mother Nature bring us today?
Ecuador’s most consistent and best surf break is right in front of us, catering to all levels of ability. This point break catches all northern swells, providing waves ranging from 1m to 3m high, depending on tides and seasons.
In addition, the beach break works independently of the point, meaning year-round surf and the perfect place to begin your journey of surfing.
Join a surf lesson with our instructors and see your skills improve. You’ll notice the big smiles on their faces as you catch your first wave, and they’ll be there to celebrate with a beer in the evening.
Forgot your board? No problem! We have a variety of boards for rent, and our staff will often join you, offering tips and advice on how the waves work here in Montanita.
Make surfing at Casa del Sol part of your daily routine, just like the rest of us!
How much does all this fun cost?
Rates: Class times will depend on the tide and the quality of the waves. Our instructor speaks English and Spanish and has many years of experience surfing the ocean in Montanita. All ages and experiences are welcome. Every student will need to sign a waiver before getting into the water.

Awesome place. Location is perfect, just far enough from the noise that you can sleep peacefully, but within striking distance. They have in house yoga thats so good, a whole bunch of locals stream in daily. Food is awesome. Surf boards on site and right across from the beach. The staff is really sweet and chill too (like concierge, bartender, yoga master built in one). Also, great place to meet and chill with fellow travelers Thanks so much!
